Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a healing therapy, with a focus on deep physical and mental relaxation, along with heightened awareness. It uses the power of the human mind to relieve anxiety, stress and tension, to remove negative thoughts and to alter unwanted behaviour. Many such problems are brought about by a continuing, and often subconscious, misinterpretation of current, recent or past events in the clients life.
Hypnotherapy is concerned with helping the client to understand the symptoms and causes of such problems, and to deal with them in a positive and meaningful way. Hypnotherapy is a positive power for good, which improves both physical and mental health.
Simple problems like smoking, phobias, nail biting etc. respond well to hypnosis.
Hypnotherapy does not require more than a light hypnotic trance to be effective, the client is not asleep and maintains full control throughout the therapy.
Prior to any hypnotherapy, there will be a consultation with the chosen therapist where the issue or problem to be resolved is discussed. In the hypnotherapy session itself, the client may be sat or laid down comfortably. The therapist will use relaxation techniques with the client, and may encourage them to visualise a situation in order to relax them further.
While in hypnosis, a person is generally aware of their surroundings and can choose to come out of hypnosis at any time. The client's suggestibility is increased, but tend to be no more compliant than in their normal waking state. One or more sessions may be needed, depending on the issue to be addressed.
